{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-13-76-404","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 13-76-404","heading":"Application and limitations.","body":"Nothing in this chapter shall be construed to:\n(1) prevent an app store provider or developer from taking reasonable measures to:\n(a) block, detect, or prevent distribution to minors of:\n(i) unlawful material;\n(ii) obscene material; or\n(iii) other harmful material;\n(b) block or filter spam;\n(c) prevent criminal activity; or\n(d) protect app store or app security;\n(2) require an app store provider to disclose user information to a developer beyond:\n(a) age category data; or\n(b) verification of parental consent status;\n(3) allow an app store provider or developer to implement measures required by this chapter in a manner that is:\n(a) arbitrary;\n(b) capricious;\n(c) anticompetitive; or\n(d) unlawful;\n(4) require a developer to collect, retain, reidentify, or link any information beyond what is:\n(a) necessary to verify age categories and parental consent status as required by this chapter; and\n(b) collected, retained, reidentified, or linked in the developer's ordinary course of business;\n(5) require an app store provider or developer to block access to an application that an account holder has downloaded or installed onto a mobile device before the day on which the obligations described in Sections 13-76-201 and 13-76-202 take effect, except to the extent that:\n(a) a parent account revokes verifiable parental consent for an affiliated minor account; or\n(b) a significant change to the application has occurred;\n(6) require a developer or app store provider to create, adopt, or implement an app age rating system or content classification framework; or\n(7) displace any other available remedies or rights authorized under the laws of this state or the United States.","path":["Title 13 Commerce and Trade","Chapter 13-76 App Store Accountability Act","Part 13-76-4 Enforcement and Safe Harbor"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title13/Chapter76/13-76-S404.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"3c2dc88494d4d2d701839f8e44ae3815369b88fdf91ceceed021d4f171232df5","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-13-76-403","next":"us-ut/utah-code-13-77-101"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
