{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-15-10-102","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 15-10-102","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in this chapter:\n(1) \"Automatic renewal provision\" means a provision under which a service contract is renewed for one or more specified periods if:\n(a) the renewal causes the service contract to be in effect more than six months after the day of the initiation of the service contract; and\n(b) the renewal is effective unless the consumer gives notice to the seller of the consumer's intention to terminate the service contract.\n(2) \"Business consumer\" means a person engaged in business if the person enters into a service contract as part of the person's business activities.\n(3)\n(a) \"Consumer\" means a person receiving service, maintenance, or repair under a service contract.\n(b) \"Consumer\" includes a representative of an association subject to:\n(i) Title 57, Chapter 8, Condominium Ownership Act; or\n(ii) Title 57, Chapter 8a, Community Association Act.\n(4) \"Seller\" means a person providing service, maintenance, or repair under a service contract.\n(5)\n(a) \"Service contract\" means a contract for service, maintenance, or repair:\n(i) in connection with real property; or\n(ii) that provides a benefit to the real property.\n(b) \"Service contract\" does not include a contract affecting any right, title, estate, or interest in real property, including:\n(i) a fee title interest;\n(ii) a leasehold interest;\n(iii) an option contract relating to real property;\n(iv) a real estate purchase contract;\n(v) an easement; or\n(vi) any other real property interest governed by Title 57, Real Estate.","path":["Title 15 Contracts and Obligations in General","Chapter 15-10 Service Contracts Act","Part 15-10-1 General Provisions"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title15/Chapter10/15-10-S102.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"4ede148524ccef6ffc5088206c26799c208cb746eb4a78ebb5c4ebd1661debe4","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-15-10-101","next":"us-ut/utah-code-15-10-201"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
