{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-15a-6-301","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 15A-6-301","heading":"Tower crane operation.","body":"(1) As used in this section:\n(a) \"Affected land\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 10-20-622.\n(b) \"Airspace approval\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 10-20-622.\n(c) \"Jib\" means the part of a tower crane that:\n(i) extends horizontally or almost horizontally from the main vertical component of the tower crane; and\n(ii) carries the live load.\n(d) \"Live load\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 10-20-622.\n(e) \"Minimum hook height\" means the distance that, measured from the lowest point of a hook suspended from a jib, is:\n(i) 50 feet above the ground level of affected land; or\n(ii) 20 feet above a building on affected land.\n(f) \"Tower crane\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 10-20-622.\n(2) An operator of a tower crane shall operate the tower crane in accordance with the requirements of the manufacturer of the tower crane.\n(3)\n(a) A live load may travel over affected land at the minimum hook height with airspace approval.\n(b) A jib, but not a live load, may travel over the affected land at the minimum hook height without airspace approval.\n(4) The functioning of a tower crane in accordance with Subsection (3) does not constitute a trespass on affected land.","path":["Title 15A State Construction and Fire Codes Act","Chapter 15A-6 Additional Construction Requirements","Part 15A-6-3 Tower Cranes"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title15A/Chapter6/15A-6-S301.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"84abaf829c884d6c96b0532c4e4911a81d8d41398c197be02482e5ea19765b6c","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-15a-6-202","next":"us-ut/utah-code-16-4-101"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
