{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-16-6a-109","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 16-6a-109","heading":"Correcting filed documents.","body":"(1) A domestic or foreign nonprofit corporation may correct a document filed with the division if the document:\n(a) contains an incorrect statement; or\n(b) was defectively executed, attested, sealed, verified, or acknowledged.\n(2) A document is corrected by delivering to the division for filing articles of correction that:\n(a)\n(i) describe the document, including its filing date; or\n(ii) have attached a copy of the document;\n(b) specify:\n(i)\n(A) the incorrect statement; and\n(B) the reason it is incorrect; or\n(ii) the manner in which the execution, attestation, sealing, verification, or acknowledgment was defective; and\n(c) correct:\n(i) the incorrect statement; or\n(ii) defective execution, attestation, sealing, verification, or acknowledgment.\n(3) Articles of correction may be executed by any person:\n(a) designated in Subsection 16-6a-105(6); or\n(b) who executed the document that is corrected.\n(4)\n(a) Articles of correction are effective on the effective date of the document they correct except as to a person:\n(i) relying on the uncorrected document; and\n(ii) adversely affected by the correction.\n(b) As to a person described in Subsection (4)(a), the articles of correction are effective when filed.","path":["Title 16 Corporations","Chapter 16-6a Utah Revised Nonprofit Corporation Act","Part 16-6a-1 General Provisions"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title16/Chapter6a/16-6a-S109.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"67f1545bc4be74a1ebb985cd93d59762404fcf36b72d7b2dc319a01f29b52a40","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-16-6a-108","next":"us-ut/utah-code-16-6a-110"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
