{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-17-63-601","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 17-63-601","heading":"Financial administration ordinance -- Purposes.","body":"(1) The county legislative body, after consultation with the county finance officer, may adopt a financial administration ordinance authorizing the county finance officer, county executive, county manager, or, in the case of county-operated hospitals or mental health districts, an appointed administrator, to act as the financial officer for the purpose of approving:\n(a) payroll checks, if the checks are prepared in accordance with a salary schedule established in a personnel ordinance or resolution; or\n(b) routine expenditures, such as utility bills, payroll-related expenses, supplies, materials, and payments on county-approved contracts and capital expenditures which are referenced in the budget document and approved by an appropriation resolution adopted for the current fiscal year.\n(2) A financial administration ordinance adopted in accordance with Subsection (1) shall provide:\n(a) a maximum amount over which purchases may not be made without the approval of the county executive; and\n(b) any other provisions the county legislative body considers advisable.","path":["Title 17 Counties","Chapter 17-63 Fiscal Authority and Processes","Part 17-63-6 Administering and Auditing Finances"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title17/Chapter63/17-63-S601.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"f10f24840a883d4ea0de085f9d32b0675ebb15457a994de961bee09453f0d719","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-17-63-506","next":"us-ut/utah-code-17-63-602"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
