{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-17-64-305","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 17-64-305","heading":"Rules and regulations governing legislative body and transaction of business -- Expulsion of members prohibited -- Exception for disorderly conduct.","body":"(1) The legislative body may make and enforce regulations for:\n(a) the government of the legislative body;\n(b) the preservation of order; and\n(c) the transaction of business .\n(2) Except as provided in Subsection (3), the legislative body may not expel a member from an open public meeting or prohibit the member from attending an open public meeting.\n(3) Except as provided in Subsection (4), following a two-thirds vote of the members, the legislative body may fine or expel a member of the legislative body for:\n(a) disorderly conduct at the open public meeting;\n(b) a member's direct or indirect financial conflict of interest regarding an issue discussed at or action proposed to be taken at the open public meeting; or\n(c) a commission of a crime during the open public meeting.\n(4) A legislative body may adopt ordinances that expand the reasons or establish more restrictive procedures for the expulsion of a member from a public meeting.","path":["Title 17 Counties","Chapter 17-64 County Legislative Body","Part 17-64-3 Meetings"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title17/Chapter64/17-64-S305.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"6d7b36297f1ae87d37f83492d9875ae4bab8649e1a213a491e85255c0329183d","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-17-64-304","next":"us-ut/utah-code-17-64-401"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
