{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-17-68-304","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 17-68-304","heading":"Assistance to the attorney general.","body":"(1)\n(a) The attorney shall appear and assist the attorney general in criminal and civil legal matters involving the state if:\n(i) except as provided in Subsection (1)(b), the attorney general requests assistance; or\n(ii) the attorney is required by law to provide assistance.\n(b) The attorney is not required to provide, if requested, the attorney general assistance if the attorney's assistance would:\n(i) interfere with the attorney's duties and responsibilities to the county; or\n(ii) create a conflict of interest.\n(c) The attorney shall cooperate with the attorney general in an investigation.\n(2) The attorney general shall assist the attorney with a criminal prosecution if a court:\n(a) finds that the attorney is unable to satisfactorily and adequately perform the duties of prosecuting a criminal case; and\n(b) recommends that the attorney seek additional legal assistance.","path":["Title 17 Counties","Chapter 17-68 County and District Attorney","Part 17-68-3 Powers, Duties, and Prohibitions"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title17/Chapter68/17-68-S304.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"aa8322301433572e25a4700583c70596a7e63d78fa3c57301263a828c314ae1a","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-17-68-303","next":"us-ut/utah-code-17-68-305"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
