{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-17-69-304.1","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 17-69-304.1","heading":"Investigations -- Report of findings.","body":"(1)\n(a) A county auditor:\n(i) may conduct an investigation of an issue or action associated with or related to the county auditor's statutory duties, including investigating a book or account of a county office, officer, department, division, court, or entity; and\n(ii) may not conduct an investigation of an issue or action that is not associated with or related to the county auditor's statutory duties.\n(b) A county officer, employee, or other county administrative entity shall grant the county auditor complete and free access to a book the county auditor requests in accordance with Subsection (1)(a)(i).\n(c) A county auditor, with the assistance of the county attorney or district attorney, may:\n(i) administer an oath or affirmation; or\n(ii) issue an administrative subpoena for a witness or document necessary to the performance of the county auditor's statutory duties.\n(2) A county auditor, after a complete investigation, shall prepare a report of the county auditor's findings and submit the report to the county executive if the county auditor finds that:\n(a) a book or account of a county office, officer, department, division, court, or entity is not kept in accordance to law; or\n(b) a county office, officer, department, division, court, or entity has made an incorrect or improper financial report.\n(3) A county auditor, after a complete investigation, shall prepare a report of the county auditor's findings and submit a copy of the report to the state court administrator, the county executive, and the county legislative body if the county auditor finds that:\n(a) a justice court judge has not kept a book or account according to law; or\n(b) a justice court judge has made an incorrect or improper financial report.","path":["Title 17 Counties","Chapter 17-69 County Auditor","Part 17-69-3 Powers and Duties"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title17/Chapter69/17-69-S304.1.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"3adbc04cdd217f9a611a188868f6713b4d4e8127d60b2a0621e47d4d5702b220","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-17-69-303","next":"us-ut/utah-code-17-69-401"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
