{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-17-76-503","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 17-76-503","heading":"Vacancies -- Compensation -- Removal from office.","body":"(1) Any vacancy occurring on the council shall be filled by appointment by the county executive for the unexpired term.\n(2) A council member may not hold, during the term of the council member's office, any other public office or be a candidate for any other public office.\n(3)\n(a) Each council member shall receive $50 for each meeting of the council attended by the council member.\n(b) The county legislative body may raise the compensation of a council member as the county legislative body considers appropriate.\n(c) The compensation and allowance described in Subsections (3)(a) and (b) shall be a charge against the county and paid monthly.\n(4)\n(a) In case of misconduct, willful neglect, or an inability to perform the duties of the council member's office, a council member may be removed from office by the county legislative body upon a majority vote of the county legislative body.\n(b) A county legislative body that moves to remove a council member from office under Subsection (4)(a) shall provide the council member with the opportunity to be heard in the council member's own defense.","path":["Title 17 Counties","Chapter 17-76 County Emergency Personnel Management","Part 17-76-5 Firefighters' Civil Service Commission"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title17/Chapter76/17-76-S503.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"9c370b1fe0e2e81ba003068af46363a3a0cb2a42f10513fc6263ff5eb65d7006","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-17-76-502","next":"us-ut/utah-code-17-76-504"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
