{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-17-77-101","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 17-77-101","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in this chapter:\n(1) \"Assisted outpatient treatment\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 26B-5-301.\n(2) \"Crisis worker\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 26B-5-610.\n(3) \"Department\" means the Department of Health and Human Services created in Section 26B-1-201.\n(4) \"Division\" means the Division of Integrated Healthcare within the department.\n(5) \"First responder\" means:\n(a) a law enforcement officer, as that term is defined in Section 53-13-103;\n(b) emergency medical service personnel, as that term is defined in Section 53-2d-101;\n(c) an emergency medical technician, as that term is defined in Section 53-2e-101;\n(d) an advanced emergency medical technician, as that term is defined in Section 53-2e-101;\n(e) a firefighter, as that term is defined in Section 53H-11-306;\n(f) a dispatcher, as that term is defined in Section 53-6-102; or\n(g) a mobile outreach social worker.\n(6) \"Local mental health crisis line\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 26B-5-610.\n(7) \"Mental health therapist\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 58-60-102.\n(8) \"Public funds\":\n(a) means:\n(i) federal money received from the department;\n(ii) state money appropriated by the Legislature to the department, a county governing body, or a local substance abuse authority for the purposes of providing substance abuse programs or services; and\n(iii) state money appropriated by the Legislature to the department, a county governing body, or a local mental health authority for the purposes of providing mental health programs or services; and\n(b) includes federal and state money described in Subsection (8)(a):\n(i) even after the money has been transferred by:\n(A) a local substance abuse authority to a private provider under an annual or otherwise ongoing contract to provide comprehensive substance abuse programs or services for the local substance abuse authority; or\n(B) a local mental health authority to a private provider under an annual or otherwise ongoing contract to provide comprehensive mental health programs or services for the local mental health authority; and\n(ii) while in the possession of the private provider.\n(9) \"Statewide mental health crisis line\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 26B-5-610.","path":["Title 17 Counties","Chapter 17-77 Local Health and Human Services","Part 17-77-1 General Provisions"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title17/Chapter77/17-77-S101.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"03bf858fe474183954c912aa1f769435ea27fde8427276d1142d13056dc111e6","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-17-76-512","next":"us-ut/utah-code-17-77-102"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
