{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-17b-1-416","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 17B-1-416","heading":"Automatic annexation to a district providing fire protection, paramedic, and emergency services or law enforcement service.","body":"(1) An area outside the boundaries of a special district that is annexed to a municipality under Title 10, Chapter 2, Part 8, Annexation, or added to a municipality by a boundary adjustment under Title 10, Chapter 2, Part 9, Municipal Boundary Adjustments, is automatically annexed to the special district if:\n(a) the special district provides:\n(i) fire protection, paramedic, and emergency services; or\n(ii) law enforcement service;\n(b) the special district is located in a county of the first class, but not otherwise, an election for the creation of the special district was not required because of Subsection 17B-1-214(3)(d); and\n(c) before the municipal annexation or boundary adjustment, the entire municipality that is annexing the area or adding the area by boundary adjustment was included within the special district.\n(2) The effective date of an annexation under this section is governed by Subsection 17B-1-414(3)(b).","path":["Title 17B Limited Purpose Local Government Entities - Special Districts","Chapter 17B-1 Provisions Applicable to All Special Districts","Part 17B-1-4 Annexation"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title17B/Chapter1/17B-1-S416.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"8875a5d66dede48864784223e35b56f60788d3cb5a0191c1d57c396f3da66f29","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-17b-1-415","next":"us-ut/utah-code-17b-1-417"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
