{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-17b-2a-806","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 17B-2a-806","heading":"Authority of the state or an agency of the state with respect to a public transit district -- Counties and municipalities authorized to provide funds to public transit district -- Equitable allocation of resources within the public transit district.","body":"(1) The state or an agency of the state may:\n(a) make public contributions to a public transit district as in the judgment of the Legislature or governing board of the agency are necessary or proper;\n(b) authorize a public transit district to perform, or aid and assist a public transit district in performing, an activity that the state or agency is authorized by law to perform; or\n(c) perform any action that the state agency is authorized by law to perform for the benefit of a public transit district.\n(2)\n(a) A county or municipality involved in the establishment and operation of a public transit district may provide funds necessary for the operation and maintenance of the district.\n(b) A county's use of property tax funds to establish and operate a public transit district within any part of the county is a county purpose under Section 17-63-702.\n(3)\n(a) To allocate resources and funds for development and operation of a public transit district, whether received under this section or from other sources, and subject to Section 72-1-203 pertaining to fixed guideway capital development within a large public transit district, a public transit district may:\n(i) give priority to public transit services that feed rail fixed guideway services; and\n(ii) allocate funds according to population distribution within the public transit district.\n(b) The comptroller of a public transit district shall report the criteria and data supporting the allocation of resources and funds in the statement required in Section 17B-2a-812.","path":["Title 17B Limited Purpose Local Government Entities - Special Districts","Chapter 17B-2a Provisions Applicable to Different Types of Special Districts","Part 17B-2a-8 Public Transit District Act"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title17B/Chapter2a/17B-2a-S806.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"4f9970c21394e73cacdb1f98b21960197b290a626b2ed354bae7ad20fdc2a57f","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-17b-2a-805","next":"us-ut/utah-code-17b-2a-807"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
