{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-17b-2a-904","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 17B-2a-904","heading":"Regional service areas to become service areas -- Change from regional service area to service area not to affect rights, obligations, board makeup, or property of former regional service area.","body":"(1) Each regional service area, created and operating under the law in effect before April 30, 2007, becomes on that date a service area, governed by and subject to Chapter 1, Provisions Applicable to All Special Districts, and this part.\n(2) The change of an entity from a regional service area to a service area under Subsection (1) does not affect:\n(a) the entity's basic structure and operations or its nature as a body corporate and politic and a political subdivision of the state;\n(b) the ability of the entity to provide the service that the entity:\n(i) was authorized to provide before the change; and\n(ii) provided before the change;\n(c) the validity of the actions taken, bonds issued, or contracts or other obligations entered into by the entity before the change;\n(d) the ability of the entity to continue to impose and collect taxes, fees, and other charges for the service it provides;\n(e) the makeup of the board of trustees;\n(f) the entity's ownership of property acquired before the change; or\n(g) any other powers, rights, or obligations that the entity had before the change, except as modified by this part.","path":["Title 17B Limited Purpose Local Government Entities - Special Districts","Chapter 17B-2a Provisions Applicable to Different Types of Special Districts","Part 17B-2a-9 Service Area Act"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title17B/Chapter2a/17B-2a-S904.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"d61c369b8b2ae43b855c541db1d63065013360d258ce25a1d9fd299095fa2146","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-17b-2a-903","next":"us-ut/utah-code-17b-2a-905"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
