{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-17d-1-206","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 17D-1-206","heading":"Protests.","body":"(1) An interested person may protest:\n(a) the creation of a special service district; or\n(b) a service that the special service district is proposed to provide.\n(2) Each protest under Subsection (1) shall:\n(a) be in writing;\n(b) be submitted:\n(i) to the legislative body of the county or municipality by which the special service district is proposed to be created; and\n(ii) no later than 60 days after the public hearing required under Subsection 17D-1-204(2); and\n(c) explain why the person is protesting.\n(3) A person who submitted a written protest against the creation of a special service district may withdraw the protest or, having withdrawn a protest, cancel the withdrawal, no later than 60 days after the public hearing required under Subsection 17D-1-204(2).\n(4) The legislative body of a county or municipality may not adopt a resolution or ordinance creating a special service district if adequate protests are filed with respect to the creation of the special service district.\n(5) The legislative body of a county or municipality may not adopt a resolution or ordinance authorizing a special service district to provide a service if adequate protests are filed with respect to that service.","path":["Title 17D Limited Purpose Local Government Entities - Other Entities","Chapter 17D-1 Special Service District Act","Part 17D-1-2 Creating a Special Service District"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title17D/Chapter1/17D-1-S206.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"5f2c96a64b15fa1bbbc9484d62a03d3a5383b3b3bb156ad97472b5b8ccf972e8","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-17d-1-205","next":"us-ut/utah-code-17d-1-207"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
