{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-17d-3-201","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 17D-3-201","heading":"Commission authority to approve the creation, consolidation, division, and dissolution of conservation districts -- Notice and hearing requirements.","body":"(1) As provided in this part, the commission may:\n(a) pursuant to a petition under Section 17D-3-202, approve the creation of a conservation district; or\n(b) pursuant to a petition under Section 17D-3-202 or on its own motion, approve:\n(i) the consolidation of two or more existing conservation districts;\n(ii) the division of an existing conservation district into two or more conservation districts; or\n(iii) the dissolution of an existing conservation district.\n(2) Before taking an action authorized under Subsection (1), the commission shall:\n(a) cause notice of a hearing on the proposed creation, consolidation, division, or dissolution to be published:\n(i) no more than 30 days after, as the case may be:\n(A) the filing of a petition under Section 17D-3-202, for a proposed creation, consolidation, division, or dissolution; or\n(B) adoption of the commission's own motion, for a proposed consolidation, division, or dissolution; and\n(ii) within:\n(A) for a proposed creation, the area of the proposed conservation district;\n(B) for a proposed consolidation, the area of each conservation district proposed to be consolidated; and\n(C) for a proposed division or dissolution, within the area of the conservation district proposed to be divided or dissolved; and\n(b) hold a public hearing on the desirability and necessity of the creation, consolidation, division, or dissolution.","path":["Title 17D Limited Purpose Local Government Entities - Other Entities","Chapter 17D-3 Conservation District Act","Part 17D-3-2 Creation, Consolidation, Division, and Dissolution of Conservation Districts"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title17D/Chapter3/17D-3-S201.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"5fd504d734f11936645e63213e7fe0717cac3a5212076414a641746f3f00fef7","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-17d-3-107","next":"us-ut/utah-code-17d-3-202"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
