{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-19-6-1204","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 19-6-1204","heading":"Public education programs -- Publication on department website.","body":"(1) A manufacturer may not offer a consumer electronic device for sale in the state unless the manufacturer individually, through a group manufacturer organization, or through the manufacturer's industry trade group establishes and implements a public education program in accordance with Subsection (2).\n(2)\n(a) The public education program required under Subsection (1) shall:\n(i) inform a consumer about eligible programs; and\n(ii) use manufacturer-developed customer outreach materials, such as packaging inserts, company websites, and other communication methods, to inform a consumer about eligible programs.\n(b) A manufacturer described in Subsection (1) shall work with the department and other interested parties to develop educational materials that inform consumers about an eligible program.\n(3) The department shall develop a public education program to:\n(a) promote eligible programs;\n(b) promote existing recycling resources in this state;\n(c) assist a manufacturer's public outreach program in accordance with Subsection (2)(b);\n(d) encourage a retailer to inform a consumer of eligible programs at the point of sale of a consumer electronic device; and\n(e) support a local government or other entity interested in creating a community collection event.\n(4) The department shall publish on the department's website:\n(a) the public education program developed by the department under Subsection (3);\n(b) a community collection event submitted to the department under Subsection 19-6-1205(2); and\n(c) a report received by the department under Section 19-6-1203.","path":["Title 19 Environmental Quality Code","Chapter 19-6 Hazardous Substances","Part 19-6-12 Disposal of Electronic Waste Program"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title19/Chapter6/19-6-S1204.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"3ac90e5615642f0b88c0f4db3f0de2bb3957e88eaea88c2172c957b132017ccd","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-19-6-1203","next":"us-ut/utah-code-19-6-1205"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
