{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-20a-1-104","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 20A-1-104","heading":"Computation of time.","body":"(1) Time is computed in this title as provided in this section.\n(2) Except as provided in Subsection (3), or as otherwise expressly provided in this title:\n(a) if a provision describes a time period in terms of a certain number of calendar days:\n(i) the time period is calculated by consecutive days; and\n(ii) the beginning and ending day of the time period is the calendar day on which the time period begins or ends;\n(b) if a provision describes a time period in terms of a certain number of business days, only the business days are included in the calculation; and\n(c) if a provision describes a time period in terms of a certain number of days rather than calendar days or business days, the days referred to mean calendar days.\n(3) A time period that relates to filing an action or document in court is calculated as provided in court rule.\n(4) Except in relation to the following chapters, if a deadline described in this title ends on a weekend or holiday, the deadline is extended to the next business day:\n(a) Chapter 19, Utah Independent Redistricting Commission and Standards Act; and\n(b) Chapter 20, Utah Independent Redistricting Commission.","path":["Title 20A Election Code","Chapter 20A-1 General Provisions","Part 20A-1-1 Elections: General Provisions and Election Oversight"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title20A/Chapter1/20A-1-S104.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"b38549d8025641119ebb97433ba793c04e1f5774d9ec8c8e07fd1c05b87313a2","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-20a-1-103","next":"us-ut/utah-code-20a-1-105"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
