{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-20a-1-201","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 20A-1-201","heading":"Date and purpose of regular general elections.","body":"(1) A regular general election shall be held throughout the state on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November of each even-numbered year.\n(2) At the regular general election, the voters shall:\n(a) choose persons to serve the terms established by law for the following offices:\n(i) electors of President and Vice President of the United States;\n(ii) United States Senators;\n(iii) Representatives to the United States Congress;\n(iv) governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, state treasurer, and state auditor;\n(v) senators and representatives to the Utah Legislature;\n(vi) county officers;\n(vii) State School Board members;\n(viii) local school board members;\n(ix) except as provided in Subsection (3), special district officers, as applicable; and\n(x) any elected judicial officers; and\n(b) approve or reject:\n(i) any proposed amendments to the Utah Constitution that have qualified for the ballot under procedures established in the Utah Code;\n(ii) any proposed initiatives or referenda that have qualified for the ballot under procedures established in the Utah Code; and\n(iii) any other ballot propositions submitted to the voters that are authorized by the Utah Code.\n(3) This section:\n(a) applies to a special service district for which the county legislative body or the municipal legislative body, as applicable, has delegated authority for the special service district to an administrative control board; and\n(b) does not apply to a special service district for which the county legislative body or the municipal legislative body, as applicable, has not delegated authority for the special service district to an administrative control board.","path":["Title 20A Election Code","Chapter 20A-1 General Provisions","Part 20A-1-2 Elections: General and Special"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title20A/Chapter1/20A-1-S201.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"a4746d1712e68bf0b45bafb87143237d9c0da837f9f452e8b0ee199ff7fdb32f","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-20a-1-109","next":"us-ut/utah-code-20a-1-201.5"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
