{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-20a-11-1002","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 20A-11-1002","heading":"Retention and public inspection of financial statements -- Written complaint if statement is false or unlawful.","body":"(1) The chief election officer shall:\n(a) make each financial statement required by this chapter or Chapter 12, Part 2, Judicial Retention Elections:\n(i) open to public inspection in the office of the chief election officer; and\n(ii) available for viewing on the Internet in accordance with Section 20A-11-103;\n(b) preserve those statements for at least five years; and\n(c) provide certified copies of the financial statements in the same manner as for other public records.\n(2) Any candidate or voter may file a written complaint with the chief election officer alleging that a filed financial statement does not conform to law or to the truth.\n(3)\n(a) As used in this Subsection (3), \"required report\" means a report, a financial statement, or any other type of statement or disclosure that a person is required to make under this chapter or Chapter 12, Part 2, Judicial Retention Elections.\n(b) Before posting or otherwise publicly disclosing a required report, the lieutenant governor shall redact from the report the following information relating to each individual referenced in the report:\n(i) the phone number of the individual; and\n(ii) the street number and street name in the address of the individual.\n(c) The information required to be redacted under Subsection (3)(b) is not a record under Title 63G, Chapter 2, Government Records Access and Management Act.\n(d) It is unlawful to publicly disclose the information required to be redacted under Subsection (3)(b).\n(e) A government officer or employee who knowingly violates Subsection (3)(d) is guilty of a class B misdemeanor.","path":["Title 20A Election Code","Chapter 20A-11 Campaign and Financial Reporting Requirements","Part 20A-11-10 Administration of Campaign Finance Laws - Chief Election Officer's and Lieutenant Governor's Responsibilities"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title20A/Chapter11/20A-11-S1002.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"0ad999d6e85f4c7b66bf0a2ce861eb3f402174ca14944baa6bf001d58be39ec2","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-20a-11-1001","next":"us-ut/utah-code-20a-11-1004"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
