{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-20a-2-101.3","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 20A-2-101.3","heading":"Convicted misdemeanants -- Restoration of right to vote or hold office.","body":"(1) As used in this section, \"misdemeanant\" means a person convicted of a misdemeanor for an offense under this title.\n(2) A misdemeanant's right to register to vote and to vote in an election is restored when the misdemeanant:\n(a) is sentenced to probation; or\n(b) has successfully completed the term of incarceration to which the misdemeanant was sentenced.\n(3) A misdemeanant's right to hold elective office is restored when:\n(a) the misdemeanor for an offense under this title is expunged as provided in Title 77, Chapter 40a, Expungement of Criminal Records; or\n(b)\n(i) five years have passed since the date of the misdemeanant's most recent misdemeanor conviction of an offense under this title;\n(ii) the misdemeanant has paid all court-ordered restitution and fines; and\n(iii) for each misdemeanor conviction that has not been expunged, the misdemeanant has:\n(A) completed probation in relation to the misdemeanor; or\n(B) successfully completed the term of incarceration associated with the misdemeanor.","path":["Title 20A Election Code","Chapter 20A-2 Voter Registration","Part 20A-2-1 General Voter Registration Requirements"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title20A/Chapter2/20A-2-S101.3.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"ed0c3beb76d38252bda4a9283ca87b081c439148f0a3f49568b10fc95bb3847d","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-20a-2-101.1","next":"us-ut/utah-code-20a-2-101.5"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
