{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-20a-2-101.5","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 20A-2-101.5","heading":"Convicted felons -- Restoration of right to vote and right to hold office.","body":"(1) As used in this section, \"convicted felon\" means a person convicted of a felony in any state or federal court of the United States.\n(2) Each convicted felon's right to register to vote and to vote in an election is restored when:\n(a) the felon is sentenced to probation;\n(b) the felon is granted parole; or\n(c) the felon has successfully completed the term of incarceration to which the felon was sentenced.\n(3) Except as provided by Subsection (4), a convicted felon's right to hold elective office is restored when:\n(a) all of the felon's felony convictions have been expunged; or\n(b)\n(i) 10 years have passed since the date of the felon's most recent felony conviction;\n(ii) the felon has paid all court-ordered restitution and fines; and\n(iii) for each felony conviction that has not been expunged, the felon has:\n(A) completed probation in relation to the felony;\n(B) been granted parole in relation to the felony; or\n(C) successfully completed the term of incarceration associated with the felony.\n(4) An individual who has been convicted of a grievous sexual offense, as defined in Section 76-1-101.5, against a child, may not hold the office of State Board of Education member or local school board member.","path":["Title 20A Election Code","Chapter 20A-2 Voter Registration","Part 20A-2-1 General Voter Registration Requirements"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title20A/Chapter2/20A-2-S101.5.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"04ccf2d64a6451d3220b4a187820427e47b1673ba39ac082b506036bae3fc0ce","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-20a-2-101.3","next":"us-ut/utah-code-20a-2-102"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
