{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-20a-2-506","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 20A-2-506","heading":"Lieutenant governor and county clerks to preserve records.","body":"(1) As used in this section:\n(a) \"Voter registration record\" means a record concerning the implementation of programs and activities conducted for the purpose of ensuring that the official register is accurate and current.\n(b) \"Voter registration record\" does not include a record that:\n(i) relates to a person's decision to decline to register to vote; or\n(ii) identifies the particular public assistance agency, discretionary voter registration agency, or Driver License Division through which a particular voter registered to vote.\n(2) The lieutenant governor and each county clerk shall:\n(a) preserve for at least two years all records relating to voter registration, including:\n(i) the official register; and\n(ii) the name and address of each individual to whom the notice required by Section 20A-2-505 was sent and a notation regarding whether the individual responded to the notice;\n(b) make a voter registration record available for public inspection, except for a voter registration record, or part of a voter registration record that is classified as private under Section 63G-2-302; and\n(c) allow a record or part of a record described in Subsection (2)(b) that is not classified as a private record to be photocopied for a reasonable cost.\n(3) The lieutenant governor shall take, and store for at least 22 months, a static copy of the official register made at the following times:\n(a) the voter registration deadline described in Subsection 20A-2-102.5(2)(a);\n(b) the day of the election; and\n(c) the last day of the canvass.","path":["Title 20A Election Code","Chapter 20A-2 Voter Registration","Part 20A-2-5 Voter Registration System and Process"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title20A/Chapter2/20A-2-S506.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"8ba26f86ae30cf499cd833bdc42576917c0d5f14059a81041664ee1e14b0a8ec","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-20a-2-505","next":"us-ut/utah-code-20a-2-507"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
