{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-20a-7-302","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 20A-7-302","heading":"Referendum process -- Application procedures.","body":"(1) Individuals wishing to circulate a referendum petition shall file a referendum application with the lieutenant governor no later than 5 p.m. on the first business day that is at least five calendar days after the day on which the legislative session at which the law passed ends.\n(2) The referendum application shall include:\n(a) the name and residence address of at least five sponsors of the referendum petition;\n(b) a statement designating a sponsor liaison, including the sponsor liaison's name, residence address, telephone number, and email address;\n(c) a statement indicating that each of the sponsors is registered to vote in Utah;\n(d) a statement indicating whether persons gathering signatures for the referendum petition may be paid for gathering signatures;\n(e) the signature of each of the sponsors, attested to by a notary public; and\n(f) a copy of the law that is the subject of the proposed referendum.","path":["Title 20A Election Code","Chapter 20A-7 Issues Submitted to the Voters","Part 20A-7-3 Statewide Referenda"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title20A/Chapter7/20A-7-S302.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"4d53bff8bf680555503001993c0d9bd409f9dcfd2fa878c174e6c38dec7a627d","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-20a-7-301","next":"us-ut/utah-code-20a-7-303"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
