{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-20a-7-602","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 20A-7-602","heading":"Local referendum process -- Application procedures.","body":"(1) Individuals wishing to circulate a referendum petition shall file a referendum application with the local clerk.\n(2) The referendum application shall include:\n(a) the name and residence address of at least five sponsors of the referendum petition;\n(b) a statement indicating that each of the sponsors is registered to vote in Utah;\n(c) a statement designating a sponsor liaison, including the sponsor liaison's name, residence address, telephone number, and email address;\n(d) a statement indicating whether persons gathering signatures for the referendum petition may be paid for gathering signatures;\n(e) the signature of each of the sponsors, acknowledged by a notary public; and\n(f)\n(i) if the referendum challenges an ordinance or resolution, a copy of the ordinance or resolution; or\n(ii) if the referendum challenges a local law that is not an ordinance or resolution, a written description of the local law, including the result of the vote on the local law.","path":["Title 20A Election Code","Chapter 20A-7 Issues Submitted to the Voters","Part 20A-7-6 Local Referenda - Procedures"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title20A/Chapter7/20A-7-S602.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"ed9d540b2201fe91b2d9f9b80d5e5bc30638fbb93ca5fe33a98e44d153f1ae31","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-20a-7-601","next":"us-ut/utah-code-20a-7-602.5"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
