{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-20a-9-803","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 20A-9-803","heading":"Declaration of candidacy -- Filing fee -- Form.","body":"(1) Candidates for president of the United States who are affiliated with a registered political party that has elected to participate in the presidential primary election and who wish to participate in the primary election shall:\n(a) file a declaration of candidacy, in person or via a designated agent, with the lieutenant governor between August 15 of the year before the primary election will be held and 5 p.m. on December 1 of the year before the primary election will be held;\n(b) identify the registered political party whose nomination the candidate is seeking;\n(c) provide a letter from the registered political party certifying that the candidate may participate as a candidate for that party in that party's presidential primary election; and\n(d) pay the filing fee of $500.\n(2) The lieutenant governor shall develop a declaration of candidacy form for presidential candidates participating in the primary.\n(3) An agent designated to file a declaration of candidacy may not sign the form described in Subsection (2).","path":["Title 20A Election Code","Chapter 20A-9 Candidate Qualifications and Nominating Procedures","Part 20A-9-8 Presidential Primary Election"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title20A/Chapter9/20A-9-S803.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"642f1237967ffbcd6de4dfd3451178d37263a24856b7f1be783cd09713a1c31e","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-20a-9-802.5","next":"us-ut/utah-code-20a-9-805"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
