{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-26a-1-102","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 26A-1-102","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in this part:\n(1) \"Board\" means a local board of health established under Section 26A-1-109.\n(2) \"County governing body\" means one of the types of county government provided for in Title 17, Chapter 52a, Part 2, Forms of County Government.\n(3) \"County health department\" means a local health department that serves a county and municipalities located within that county.\n(4) \"Department\" means the Department of Health and Human Services created in Section 26B-1-201.\n(5) \"Local food\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 4-1-109.\n(6) \"Local health department\" means:\n(a) a single county local health department;\n(b) a multicounty local health department;\n(c) a united local health department; or\n(d) a multicounty united local health department.\n(7) \"Mental health authority\" means a local mental health authority described in Section 17-77-301.\n(8) \"Multicounty local health department\" means a local health department that is formed under Section 26A-1-105 and that serves two or more contiguous counties and municipalities within those counties.\n(9) \"Multicounty united local health department\" means a united local health department that is formed under Section 26A-1-105.5 and that serves two or more contiguous counties and municipalities within those counties.\n(10) \"Order of constraint\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 26B-7-301.\n(11) \"Public health emergency\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 26B-7-301.\n(12) \"Single county local health department\" means a local health department that is created by the governing body of one county to provide services to the county and the municipalities within that county.\n(13) \"Stay-at-home order\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 26B-7-301.\n(14) \"Substance abuse authority\" means a local substance abuse authority described in Section 17-77-201.\n(15) \"United local health department\":\n(a) means a substance abuse authority, a mental health authority, and a local health department that join together under Section 26A-1-105.5; and\n(b) includes a multicounty united local health department.","path":["Title 26A Local Health Authorities","Chapter 26A-1 Local Health Departments","Part 26A-1-1 Local Health Department Act"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title26A/Chapter1/26A-1-S102.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"b576fc337f77c1f464b958639173d70d5fbbef974b1a5eaafd999925268e7109","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-25-6-407","next":"us-ut/utah-code-26a-1-103"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
