{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-26b-3-142.5","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 26B-3-142.5","heading":"Remove deceased enrollees.","body":"(1) As used in this section, \"death master file\" means the database maintained by the Social Security Administration that contains reported deaths.\n(2) The department shall:\n(a) receive and review information from the death master file;\n(b) conduct cross-checks between information obtained from the death master file and state Medicaid enrollment at least each quarter to identify deceased enrollees;\n(c) receive and review information regarding birth and death records from the Office of Vital Records and Statistics;\n(d) remove any identified deceased enrollee from the Medicaid program promptly upon confirmation of death;\n(e) ensure that no Medicaid payments are made on behalf of a deceased enrollee for services rendered after the date of death; and\n(f) recoup any funds expended on deceased enrollees for capitations or services occurring after the date of death.\n(3) The Office of Inspector General of Medicaid Services, created in Section 63A-13-201, shall conduct periodic reviews to ensure compliance with these requirements.","path":["Title 26B Utah Health and Human Services Code","Chapter 26B-3 Health Care - Administration and Assistance","Part 26B-3-1 Health Care Assistance"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title26B/Chapter3/26B-3-S142.5.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"cf506e80032d743fa8d42a8d1a86236218666398cd24895f6c49c112546bab1c","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-26b-3-142.3","next":"us-ut/utah-code-26b-3-143"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
