{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-26b-4-1006","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 26B-4-1006","heading":"Substance use disorder screening.","body":"(1) Within 30 days after an inmate is committed to the custody of the Department of Corrections, the division shall use an evidence-based screening tool to screen the inmate for substance use disorders.\n(2) If the screening described in Subsection (1) indicates the presence of a substance use disorder, the division, in coordination with the correctional facility where the inmate is housed, and as appropriate and available, may:\n(a) make medication assisted treatment available to the inmate; and\n(b) place the inmate in programs designed to assist individuals with a substance use disorder.\n(3) Before October 1 each year, the division shall provide a report to the Health and Human Services Interim Committee regarding actions taken in accordance with this section in the preceding fiscal year, including:\n(a) the number of inmates who were screened;\n(b) the number of inmates whose screening indicated the presence of a substance use disorder; and\n(c) of the inmates whose screening indicated the presence of a substance use disorder, the number of inmates who received medication assisted treatment.","path":["Title 26B Utah Health and Human Services Code","Chapter 26B-4 Health Care - Delivery and Access","Part 26B-4-10 Inmate Health"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title26B/Chapter4/26B-4-S1006.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"401bfa81b0b601e8125313b7dc2075508408b60edd98332c4c31eefb525f3965","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-26b-4-1005","next":"us-ut/utah-code-26b-4-1007"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
