{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-26b-4-404","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 26B-4-404","heading":"Removal of child suspected of sustaining concussion or a traumatic head injury -- Medical clearance required before return to participation.","body":"(1) An amateur sports organization, and each agent of the amateur sports organization, shall:\n(a) immediately remove a child from participating in a sporting event of the amateur sports organization if the child is suspected of sustaining a concussion or a traumatic head injury; and\n(b) prohibit the child described in Subsection (1)(a) from participating in a sporting event of the amateur sports organization until the child:\n(i) is evaluated by a qualified health care provider who is trained in the evaluation and management of a concussion; and\n(ii) provides the amateur sports organization with a written statement from the qualified health care provider described in Subsection (1)(b)(i) stating that:\n(A) the qualified health care provider has, within three years before the day on which the written statement is made, successfully completed a continuing education course in the evaluation and management of a concussion; and\n(B) the child is cleared to resume participation in the sporting event of the amateur sports organization.\n(2) This section does not create a new cause of action.","path":["Title 26B Utah Health and Human Services Code","Chapter 26B-4 Health Care - Delivery and Access","Part 26B-4-4 School Health"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title26B/Chapter4/26B-4-S404.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"257928755f208db6240ac5ec1e4cd2dd5686d00343a2b89f0816aee121f45ab7","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-26b-4-403","next":"us-ut/utah-code-26b-4-405"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
