{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-26b-4-412","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 26B-4-412","heading":"Training in use and storage of a glucagon kit.","body":"(1)\n(a) Each primary and secondary school in the state, both public and private, shall make initial and annual refresher training regarding the storage and emergency use of a glucagon kit available to a teacher or school employee who volunteers to become a qualified adult.\n(b) The department shall provide the training described in Subsection (1)(a).\n(2) A person who provides training under Subsection (1) or (5) shall include in the training:\n(a) techniques for recognizing symptoms of a hypoglycemic emergency;\n(b) standards and procedures for the storage and emergency use of a glucagon kit;\n(c) emergency follow-up procedures, and contacting, if possible, the student's parent; and\n(d) written materials covering the information required under this Subsection (2).\n(3) A qualified adult shall retain for reference the written materials prepared in accordance with Subsection (2)(d).\n(4) A public or private school shall permit a student to possess and self-administer diabetes medication in accordance with Section 53G-9-506.\n(5) The department:\n(a) shall approve educational programs conducted by other persons to train:\n(i) people under Subsection (5)(b), regarding the proper use and storage of a glucagon kit; and\n(ii) a qualified glucagon kit entity regarding the proper storage and emergency use of a glucagon kit; and\n(b) may conduct educational programs to train people regarding the use of and storage of a glucagon kit.","path":["Title 26B Utah Health and Human Services Code","Chapter 26B-4 Health Care - Delivery and Access","Part 26B-4-4 School Health"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title26B/Chapter4/26B-4-S412.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"7563b38d0fb928a9035aaf6e8dd0cda634e2475bb2ae16b5ded40554927b14fe","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-26b-4-411","next":"us-ut/utah-code-26b-4-501"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
