{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-26b-6-207","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 26B-6-207","heading":"Peace officer's authority to transport -- Notification.","body":"(1) A peace officer may remove and transport, or cause to have transported, a vulnerable adult to an appropriate medical or shelter facility, if:\n(a) the officer has probable cause to believe that:\n(i) by reason of abuse, neglect, or exploitation there exist exigent circumstances; and\n(ii) the vulnerable adult will suffer serious physical injury or death if not immediately placed in a safe environment;\n(b) the vulnerable adult refuses to consent or lacks capacity to consent; and\n(c) there is not time to notify interested parties or to apply for a warrant or other court order.\n(2) A peace officer described in Subsection (1) shall, within four hours after a vulnerable adult is transported to an appropriate medical or shelter facility:\n(a) notify Adult Protective Services intake; and\n(b) request that Adult Protective Services or the division file a petition with the court for an emergency protective order.","path":["Title 26B Utah Health and Human Services Code","Chapter 26B-6 Long Term Services and Supports, Aging, and Disabilities","Part 26B-6-2 Abuse, Neglect, or Exploitation of a Vulnerable Adult"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title26B/Chapter6/26B-6-S207.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"a4cbf9f22e01598ef70afa2e4b02fae652683b29121277e465c960b6d163e69b","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-26b-6-206","next":"us-ut/utah-code-26b-6-208"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
