{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-26b-6-902","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 26B-6-902","heading":"State protection and advocacy agency.","body":"(1) The state protection and advocacy agency should:\n(a) represent and advocate for the interests of all disabled individuals in the state;\n(b) annually hold at least three meetings with the public throughout the state to:\n(i) understand the needs in the local community; and\n(ii) provide education, advocacy, and resources to disabled individuals in the local community; and\n(c) provide a written report annually to the Judiciary Interim Committee and Health and Human Services Interim Committee on or before August 31.\n(2) The report described in Subsection (1)(c) may include:\n(a) the number and location of public meetings;\n(b) the number and description of the types of services and advocacy provided, including the number and description of advocacy incidents that:\n(i) advocated for a more-integrated or less-integrated setting or care, according to the appropriate need of the individual;\n(ii) advocated for a greater level or lesser level of treatment, including medication treatment, according to the appropriate need of the individual; and\n(iii) advocated for a deviation from a treatment provider recommendation and the reason;\n(c) a list of the government entities that the state protection and advocacy agency worked with;\n(d) the number of individuals served that:\n(i) are not capable of living independently;\n(ii) can live somewhat independently, with formal supports;\n(iii) live independently; and\n(iv) are a family member of a disabled individual;\n(e) the number of individuals that the state protection and advocacy agency:\n(i) referred to and received voluntary treatment;\n(ii) petitioned for and were ordered into involuntary treatment;\n(iii) exited from homelessness into a residential or clinical setting;\n(iv) was able to advocate for assisted outpatient treatment or assertive community treatment that resulted in placement or acquisition of supportive housing; and\n(v) advocated for with the goal of discontinuing any aspect of services or treatment deemed to be appropriate for the need of the individual; and\n(f) policy recommendations, if any.","path":["Title 26B Utah Health and Human Services Code","Chapter 26B-6 Long Term Services and Supports, Aging, and Disabilities","Part 26B-6-9 Utah Protection And Advocacy Agency"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title26B/Chapter6/26B-6-S902.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"18cf7023dcb7d5998009a8df88beeaa519cb447c2306a2539b892be6062f5a59","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-26b-6-901","next":"us-ut/utah-code-26b-7-101"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
