{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-26b-7-408","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 26B-7-408","heading":"Procurement and use of a blood product is a service and not a sale -- Blood donation by a minor.","body":"(1) As used in this section:\n(a) \"Blood\" means human blood.\n(b) \"Blood product\" includes:\n(i) whole blood;\n(ii) blood plasma;\n(iii) a blood derivative;\n(iv) blood platelets; and\n(v) blood clotting agents.\n(2) The following are considered to be the rendition of a service by each participant and are not considered to be a sale:\n(a) the procurement, processing, distribution, or use of a blood product for the purpose of injecting or transfusing the blood product into the human body; and\n(b) the process of injecting or transfusing a blood product.\n(3) A minor who is at least 16 years old may donate blood to a voluntary, noncompensatory blood donation program if a parent or legal guardian of the minor consents to the donation.","path":["Title 26B Utah Health and Human Services Code","Chapter 26B-7 Public Health and Prevention","Part 26B-7-4 General Sanitation and Food Safety"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title26B/Chapter7/26B-7-S408.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"812334c89561e8a6c75adc84024eb6953fc94a8f360f02af9e842fb8be53ca87","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-26b-7-407","next":"us-ut/utah-code-26b-7-409"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
