{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-26b-7-418","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 26B-7-418","heading":"Scarification safety requirements.","body":"(1) A body art facility that practices or instructs scarification shall:\n(a) practice scarification procedures in a dedicated enclosed room that is not used for any other purpose;\n(b) obtain proof of age before performing a scarification procedure; and\n(c) provide a client, in writing, with:\n(i) instructions regarding proper care for the skin during the healing process after a scarification procedure, including warning signs of infection; and\n(ii) information about how to report an injury to the department.\n(2) The department shall establish rules to ensure that a body art facility that practices or instructs scarification has adequate policies and procedures in place for client safety, including rules that address:\n(a) clothing;\n(b) personal protective equipment;\n(c) use of single-use instruments;\n(d) sanitization and disposal of tools; and\n(e) cleaning and bandaging a client's skin.\n(3) The Office of Professional Licensure Review shall:\n(a) review the practice and instruction of scarification; and\n(b) report findings and recommendations to the Health and Human Services Interim Committee on or before November 1, 2026.","path":["Title 26B Utah Health and Human Services Code","Chapter 26B-7 Public Health and Prevention","Part 26B-7-4 General Sanitation and Food Safety"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title26B/Chapter7/26B-7-S418.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"f38fe5839dae97be8caa4114e0b4a29897b1c55b4a7529b6526dc4825592611d","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-26b-7-417","next":"us-ut/utah-code-26b-7-501"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
