{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-26b-8-208","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 26B-8-208","heading":"Rendering a dead body unavailable for postmortem investigation.","body":"(1) As used in this section:\n(a) \"Medical examiner\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 26B-8-201.\n(b) \"Unavailable for postmortem investigation\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 26B-8-201.\n(2) It is unlawful for a person to engage in any conduct that makes a dead body unavailable for postmortem investigation, unless, before engaging in that conduct, the person obtains a permit from the medical examiner to render the dead body unavailable for postmortem investigation, under Section 26B-8-230, if the person intends to make the body unavailable for postmortem investigation.\n(3) A person who violates Subsection (2) is guilty of a third degree felony.\n(4) If a person engages in conduct that constitutes both a violation of this section and a violation of Section 76-5-802 or 76-5-803, the provisions and penalties of Section 76-5-802 or 76-5-803 supersede the provisions and penalties of this section.","path":["Title 26B Utah Health and Human Services Code","Chapter 26B-8 Health Data, Vital Statistics, and Utah Medical Examiner","Part 26B-8-2 Utah Medical Examiner"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title26B/Chapter8/26B-8-S208.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"044e923cee1bed6ba277eed803cd7adeaab87212a79d9c0d4c720c66fed42a54","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-26b-8-207","next":"us-ut/utah-code-26b-8-209"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
