{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-26b-8-231","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 26B-8-231","heading":"Overdose fatality examiner.","body":"(1) Within funds appropriated by the Legislature, the department shall provide compensation, at a standard rate determined by the department, to an overdose fatality examiner.\n(2) The overdose fatality examiner shall:\n(a) work with the medical examiner to compile data regarding overdose and opioid related deaths, including:\n(i) toxicology information;\n(ii) demographics; and\n(iii) the source of opioids or drugs;\n(b) as relatives of the deceased are willing, gather information from relatives of the deceased regarding the circumstances of the decedent's death;\n(c) maintain a database of information described in Subsections (2)(a) and (b); and\n(d) coordinate no less than monthly with the suicide prevention coordinator described in Section 26B-5-611.","path":["Title 26B Utah Health and Human Services Code","Chapter 26B-8 Health Data, Vital Statistics, and Utah Medical Examiner","Part 26B-8-2 Utah Medical Examiner"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title26B/Chapter8/26B-8-S231.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"9d1f260962dab0ef79afacfd441a428b72bc1a5ba7c58e48734bb7843334eb29","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-26b-8-230","next":"us-ut/utah-code-26b-8-232"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
