{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-31a-1-105","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 31A-1-105","heading":"Presumption of jurisdiction.","body":"(1) Any insurer that provides coverage of a resident of this state, property located in this state, or a business activity conducted in this state, or that engages in any activity described in Subsections 31A-15-102(2)(a) through (h), is:\n(a) doing an insurance business in this state; and\n(b) subject to the jurisdiction of the insurance commissioner and the courts of this state under Sections 31A-2-309 and 31A-2-310 to the extent of that coverage or activity.\n(2) Any person doing or purporting to do an insurance business in this state as defined in Section 31A-1-301 is subject to the jurisdiction of the insurance commissioner and this title, unless the insurer can establish that the exemptions of Section 31A-1-103 apply.\n(3) This section does not limit the jurisdiction of the courts of this state under other applicable law.","path":["Title 31A Insurance Code","Chapter 31A-1 General Provisions","Part 31A-1-1 Purposes, Scope, and Application"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title31A/Chapter1/31A-1-S105.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"d34caedd19cac1429ce34bdb3099c72ce64b54b76b01be81b4bd8594407ca6da","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-31a-1-104","next":"us-ut/utah-code-31a-1-106"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
