{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-31a-19a-214","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 31A-19a-214","heading":"Rating tiers.","body":"(1) An insurer may file with the commissioner a rate filing that provides for a program with more than one rate level in the same company or group of companies if:\n(a) the program is based, to the extent feasible, upon mutually exclusive underwriting rules per tier;\n(b) the underwriting rules are based on clear, objective criteria that would lead to a logical distinguishing of potential risk; and\n(c) in filing to establish tiers, the insurer provides supporting information that evidences a clear distinction between the expected losses and expenses for each tier.\n(2) A rating tier may not be continued if premium, loss, and expense data fail to show a continued clear distinction between the tiers.","path":["Title 31A Insurance Code","Chapter 31A-19a Utah Rate Regulation Act","Part 31A-19a-2 General Rate Regulation"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title31A/Chapter19a/31A-19a-S214.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"20356c09bfba781165d7a6e312a88fe594407cde26994f4d88fff55e153b8a98","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-31a-19a-213","next":"us-ut/utah-code-31a-19a-215"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
