{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-31a-22-646.2","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 31A-22-646.2","heading":"Dental services jurisdiction.","body":"(1)\n(a) Notwithstanding Section 31A-1-103, an insurer that provides coverage for dental services that are completed in Utah to a patient that is a Utah resident shall comply with all Utah laws related to covered services, non-covered services, and reimbursement for services if 10% or more of the certificate holders or insureds are residents of this state.\n(b) Subsection (1)(a) applies regardless of:\n(i) the location of the insurer's domicile or principle place of business;\n(ii) the location where the dental plan was written, issued, or delivered; or\n(iii) a contractual choice-of-law provision.\n(2)\n(a) A signed provider agreement shall govern the contractual rights and obligations of the parties for dental services provided in Utah.\n(b) A provider handbook that is provided to a dental provider by an insurer in connection with a provider agreement shall be deemed part of the provider contract.\n(c) An insurer may not require a dental provider to comply with a provider handbook or policy that is not provided to the dental provider.\n(d) An insurer shall notify a dental provider if the insurer issues a new provider handbook or updates an existing provider handbook.","path":["Title 31A Insurance Code","Chapter 31A-22 Contracts in Specific Lines","Part 31A-22-6 Accident and Health Insurance"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title31A/Chapter22/31A-22-S646.2.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"f25cf08cf6e71584ea66699d6023796d3bc2c67d20a4b04602501cb663f7e026","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-31a-22-646.1","next":"us-ut/utah-code-31a-22-647"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
