{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-31a-23a-103","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 31A-23a-103","heading":"Requirement of license.","body":"(1)\n(a) Unless exempted from the licensing requirement under Section 31A-23a-201 or 31A-23a-207, a person may not perform, offer to perform, or advertise any service as a producer, surplus lines producer, limited line producer, consultant, managing general agent, or reinsurance intermediary in Utah, without a valid individual or agency license issued under this chapter.\n(b) A valid license includes at least one license type and one line of authority pertaining to that license type.\n(c) A person may not utilize the services of another as a producer, surplus lines producer, limited line producer, consultant, managing general agent, or reinsurance intermediary if that person knows or should know that the other does not have a license as required by law.\n(2) This part may not be construed to require an insurer to obtain an insurance producer license.\n(3) An insurance contract is not invalid as a result of a violation of this section.","path":["Title 31A Insurance Code","Chapter 31A-23a Insurance Marketing - Licensing Producers, Consultants, and Reinsurance Intermediaries","Part 31A-23a-1 General Provisions"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title31A/Chapter23a/31A-23a-S103.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"28922526ebe5653247e68d8c785ddb9eb1f7c0c6878a49654ee9d119227b3feb","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-31a-23a-102","next":"us-ut/utah-code-31a-23a-104"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
