{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-31a-23a-113","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 31A-23a-113","heading":"License lapse and voluntary surrender.","body":"(1)\n(a) A license issued under this chapter, including a line of authority, shall lapse if the licensee fails to:\n(i) pay when due a fee under Section 31A-3-103;\n(ii) complete continuing education requirements under Section 31A-23a-202 before submitting the license renewal application;\n(iii) submit a completed renewal application as required by Section 31A-23a-104;\n(iv) submit additional documentation required to complete the licensing process as related to a specific license type or line of authority; or\n(v) maintain an active license in a licensee's home state if the licensee is a nonresident licensee.\n(b) A license that lapses shall expire effective at midnight on the day on which the license expires.\n(c)\n(i) A licensee whose license lapses may request reinstatement of the license and line of authority no more than one year after the day on which the license lapses.\n(ii) A licensee whose license lapses due to the following may request an action described in Subsection (1)(c)(iii):\n(A) military service;\n(B) voluntary service for a period of time designated by the person for whom the licensee provides voluntary service; or\n(C) some other extenuating circumstances, including long-term medical disability.\n(iii) A licensee described in Subsection (1)(c)(ii) may request:\n(A) reinstatement of the license and line of authority no later than one year after the day on which the license lapses; and\n(B) waiver of any of the following imposed for failure to comply with renewal procedures:\n(I) an examination requirement;\n(II) reinstatement fees set under Section 31A-3-103;\n(III) continuing education requirements; or\n(IV) other sanction imposed for failure to comply with renewal procedures.\n(2) If a license or line of authority issued under this chapter is voluntarily surrendered, the license or line of authority may be reinstated:\n(a) during the license period in which the license or line of authority is voluntarily surrendered; and\n(b) no later than one year after the day on which the license or line of authority is voluntarily surrendered.","path":["Title 31A Insurance Code","Chapter 31A-23a Insurance Marketing - Licensing Producers, Consultants, and Reinsurance Intermediaries","Part 31A-23a-1 General Provisions"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title31A/Chapter23a/31A-23a-S113.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"362c2e7485f0906d1070485ca40a95f8391aaf106b7b03f4a3dc65e4ad9f9bae","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-31a-23a-112","next":"us-ut/utah-code-31a-23a-114"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
