{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-31a-35-402","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 31A-35-402","heading":"Authority related to bail bonds.","body":"(1) A bail bond agency may only sell bail bonds.\n(2) In accordance with Section 31A-23a-205, a bail bond producer may not execute or issue a bail bond in this state without holding a current appointment from a surety insurer or a current designation from a bail bond agency.\n(3) A bail bond agency or surety insurer may not allow any person who is not a bail bond producer to engage in the bail bond insurance business on the bail bond agency's or surety insurer's behalf, except for individuals:\n(a) employed solely for the performance of clerical, stenographic, investigative, or other administrative duties that do not require a license as:\n(i) a bail bond agency; or\n(ii) a bail bond producer; and\n(b) whose compensation is not related to or contingent upon the number of bail bonds written.","path":["Title 31A Insurance Code","Chapter 31A-35 Bail Bond Act","Part 31A-35-4 Certificate of Authority"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title31A/Chapter35/31A-35-S402.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"3e2884b47d23486ff4dd260739a6398a4a30e3f996099d25b04a677623e794d1","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-31a-35-401.5","next":"us-ut/utah-code-31a-35-403"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
