{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-31a-36-118","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 31A-36-118","heading":"Criminal penalties and restitution.","body":"(1) A person subject to this chapter is subject to:\n(a) Section 31A-2-308 for an administrative violation of this title;\n(b) prosecution under Title 76, Chapter 6, Part 4, Theft, for criminal activity involving a life settlement; or\n(c) prosecution under Section 31A-31-103 for insurance fraud involving a life settlement.\n(2) A person found to be in violation of this chapter may:\n(a) be ordered to pay restitution to persons aggrieved by the violation;\n(b) be ordered to pay a forfeiture;\n(c) be imprisoned if found guilty of a criminal law by a court of competent jurisdiction; and\n(d) be subject to a combination of the penalties described in this Subsection (2).\n(3) Except for a fraudulent act committed by an owner, this section does not apply to the owner.","path":["Title 31A Insurance Code","Chapter 31A-36 Life Settlements Act"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title31A/Chapter36/31A-36-S118.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"97a0527e497762c1504aa42c7c220f9d80b2dd9bd60ccb23bb2fc36f460c8cdf","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-31a-36-117","next":"us-ut/utah-code-31a-36-119"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
