{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-32b-4-420","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 32B-4-420","heading":"Unlawful adulteration.","body":"(1) For purposes of this section, \"tamper\" means to do one or more of the following to the contents of a container:\n(a) fortify;\n(b) adulterate;\n(c) contaminate;\n(d) dilute;\n(e) change its character or purity; or\n(f) otherwise change.\n(2) A person may not, for any purpose, mix or allow to be mixed with an alcoholic product sold or supplied by the person as a beverage any of the following:\n(a) a drug;\n(b) methylic alcohol;\n(c) a crude, unrectified, or impure form of ethylic alcohol; or\n(d) another deleterious substance.\n(3)\n(a) The following may not engage in an act listed in Subsection (3)(b):\n(i) a package agent;\n(ii) a retail licensee;\n(iii) a permittee;\n(iv) a beer wholesaler licensee;\n(v) a liquor warehouser licensee;\n(vi) a supplier; or\n(vii) an importer.\n(b) A person listed in Subsection (3)(a) may not:\n(i) tamper with the contents of a container of alcoholic product as originally marketed by a manufacturer;\n(ii) refill or partly refill with any substance the contents of an original container of alcoholic product as originally marketed by a manufacturer;\n(iii) misrepresent the brand of an alcoholic product sold or offered for sale; or\n(iv) sell or furnish a brand of alcoholic product that is not the same as that ordered by a purchaser without first advising the purchaser of the difference.","path":["Title 32B Alcoholic Beverage Control Act","Chapter 32B-4 Criminal Offenses and Procedure Act","Part 32B-4-4 Sale, Purchase, Possession, and Consumption"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title32B/Chapter4/32B-4-S420.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"9953a66882edb230ac766ec1a1bd6907caa763f91fcb8da94dcfe1ff27f59c12","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-32b-4-419","next":"us-ut/utah-code-32b-4-421"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
