{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-32b-4-501","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 32B-4-501","heading":"Operating without a license or permit.","body":"(1) A person may not operate the following businesses without first obtaining a license under this title if the business allows a person to purchase or consume an alcoholic product on the premises of the business:\n(a) a restaurant;\n(b) an airport lounge;\n(c) a business operated in the same manner as a bar establishment licensee;\n(d) a resort;\n(e) a business operated to sell, offer for sale, or furnish beer for on-premise consumption;\n(f) a business operated as an on-premise banquet licensee;\n(g) a hotel;\n(h) an arena; or\n(i) a business similar to one listed in Subsections (1)(a) through (h).\n(2) A person conducting an event that is open to the general public may not directly or indirectly sell, offer for sale, or furnish an alcoholic product to a person attending the event without first obtaining an event permit under this title.\n(3) A person conducting a private event may not directly or indirectly sell or offer for sale an alcoholic product to a person attending the private event without first obtaining an event permit under this title.\n(4) A person may not operate the following businesses in this state without first obtaining a license under this title:\n(a) a winery manufacturer;\n(b) a distillery manufacturer;\n(c) a brewery manufacturer;\n(d) a local industry representative of:\n(i) a manufacturer of an alcoholic product;\n(ii) a supplier of an alcoholic product; or\n(iii) an importer of an alcoholic product;\n(e) a liquor warehouser; or\n(f) a beer wholesaler.\n(5) A person may not operate a public conveyance in this state without first obtaining a public service permit under this title if that public conveyance allows a person to purchase or consume an alcoholic product:\n(a) on the public conveyance; or\n(b) on the premises of a hospitality room located within a depot, terminal, or similar facility at which a service is provided to a patron of the public conveyance.","path":["Title 32B Alcoholic Beverage Control Act","Chapter 32B-4 Criminal Offenses and Procedure Act","Part 32B-4-5 Operations"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title32B/Chapter4/32B-4-S501.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"0c0d45e22ab5ad5952e0dc13168d1c245790f7c0f712f4e96d10bc12c8b8b674","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-32b-4-424","next":"us-ut/utah-code-32b-4-502"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
