{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-34a-3-101","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 34A-3-101","heading":"Title -- Definitions.","body":"(1) This chapter is known as the \"Utah Occupational Disease Act.\"\n(2) For purposes of this chapter:\n(a) \"Division\" means the Division of Industrial Accidents.\n(b) \"Fire and rescue training program\" means the program described in Section 53H-4-705.\n(c)\n(i) \"Firefighter\" means a member of a public fire department or other public firefighting organization that provides fire suppression and other fire-related service who is responsible for or serves in a capacity that includes responsibility for the extinguishment of fires.\n(ii) \"Firefighter\" includes:\n(A) an individual who is a designated personal protective equipment technician; or\n(B) a volunteer safety officer as described in Subsection 67-20-2(10)(b)(ii).\n(iii)\n(A) \"Firefighter\" does not include any other individual whose job description, duties, or responsibilities do not include direct involvement in fire suppression; or\n(B) individuals who provide private suppression or other private fire-related protection services.\n(d) \"Presumptive cancer\" means one or more of the following cancers:\n(i) bladder;\n(ii) brain;\n(iii) colorectal;\n(iv) esophageal;\n(v) kidney;\n(vi) leukemias;\n(vii) lung;\n(viii) lymphomas;\n(ix) melanomas;\n(x) mesotheliomas;\n(xi) oropharynx;\n(xii) ovarian;\n(xiii) prostate;\n(xiv) testicular; and\n(xv) thyroid.\n(e) \"Rocky Mountain Center for Occupational and Environmental Health\" means the center described in Section 53H-5-202.","path":["Title 34A Utah Labor Code","Chapter 34A-3 Utah Occupational Disease Act","Part 34A-3-1 Utah Occupational Disease Act"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title34A/Chapter3/34A-3-S101.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"036c096c8776e0b811762ed696bafc5ca87bd793427d30dffb7c2dc4ca4cdffd","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-34a-2-1005","next":"us-ut/utah-code-34a-3-102"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
