{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-36-12-8","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 36-12-8","heading":"Legislative Management Committee -- Research and General Counsel Subcommittee -- Budget Subcommittee -- Audit Subcommittee -- Duties -- Members -- Meetings.","body":"(1) There are created within the Legislative Management Committee:\n(a) the Research and General Counsel Subcommittee;\n(b) the Budget Subcommittee; and\n(c) the Audit Subcommittee.\n(2)\n(a) The Research and General Counsel Subcommittee shall comprise:\n(i) the president, majority leader, and minority leader of the Senate; and\n(ii) the speaker, majority leader, and minority leader of the House of Representatives.\n(b) The Research and General Counsel Subcommittee shall recommend to the Legislative Management Committee a person or persons to hold the positions of director of the Office of Legislative Research and General Counsel and legislative general counsel.\n(3)\n(a) The Budget Subcommittee shall comprise:\n(i) the president, majority leader, and minority leader of the Senate; and\n(ii) the speaker, majority leader, and minority leader of the House of Representatives.\n(b) The Budget Subcommittee shall recommend to the Legislative Management Committee a person to hold the position of legislative fiscal analyst.\n(4)\n(a) The Audit Subcommittee shall comprise:\n(i) the president, majority leader, and minority leader of the Senate; and\n(ii) the speaker, majority leader, and minority leader of the House of Representatives.\n(b) The Audit Subcommittee shall:\n(i) recommend to the Legislative Management Committee a person to hold the position of legislative auditor general; and\n(ii)\n(A) review all requests for audits;\n(B) prioritize those requests;\n(C) hear all audit reports and refer those reports to other legislative committees for their further review and action as appropriate; and\n(D) when notified by the legislative auditor general that a subsequent audit has found that an entity has not implemented a previous audit recommendation, refer the audit report to an appropriate legislative committee and also ensure that an appropriate legislative committee conducts a review of the entity that has not implemented the previous audit recommendation.\n(5) Each subcommittee of the Legislative Management Committee:\n(a) shall meet as often as necessary to perform its duties; and\n(b) may meet during and between legislative sessions.","path":["Title 36 Legislature","Chapter 36-12 Legislative Organization"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title36/Chapter12/36-12-S8.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"15a099604edab56c6e7854e3f3afad514a8e26df8e70bdbde7934937053d6dde","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-36-12-7","next":"us-ut/utah-code-36-12-8.2"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
