{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-36-14-2","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 36-14-2","heading":"Issuers.","body":"(1) Any of the following persons is an issuer, who may issue legislative subpoenas by following the procedures set forth in this chapter:\n(a) the speaker of the House of Representatives;\n(b) the president of the Senate;\n(c) a chair of any legislative standing committee;\n(d) a chair of any legislative interim committee;\n(e) a chair of any special committee established by the Legislative Management Committee, the speaker of the House of Representatives, or the president of the Senate;\n(f) a chair of any subcommittee of the Legislative Management Committee;\n(g) a chair of a special investigative committee;\n(h) a chair of a Senate or House Ethics Committee;\n(i) a chair of the Executive Appropriations Committee as created in JR3-2-401;\n(j) a chair of an appropriations subcommittee as created in JR3-2-302;\n(k) the director of the Office of Legislative Research and General Counsel;\n(l) the legislative auditor general;\n(m) the legislative fiscal analyst; and\n(n) the legislative general counsel.\n(2) A legislative body, a legislative office, an issuer, or a legislative staff member designated by an issuer may:\n(a) administer an oath or affirmation; and\n(b) take evidence, including testimony.","path":["Title 36 Legislature","Chapter 36-14 Legislative Subpoena Powers"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title36/Chapter14/36-14-S2.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"7d98d74505af67629acc124b2f2cbb4f947ecb6dc274364f981a656489f0cafe","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-36-14-1","next":"us-ut/utah-code-36-14-3"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
