{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-38-8-3.5","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 38-8-3.5","heading":"Right to tow certain vehicles subject to lien.","body":"(1) If the property subject to a lien described in Section 38-3-2 is a vehicle, the occupant is in default for a continuous 60-day period, and the owner chose not to sell the vehicle under Section 38-8-3, the owner may have the vehicle towed from the self-service storage facility by an independent towing carrier that is certified by the Department of Transportation as described in Section 72-9-602.\n(2) Within one day after the day on which a vehicle is towed under Subsection (1), the owner shall send written notice by certified mail, postage prepaid, to the occupant's last known address that states:\n(a) the date the vehicle was towed; and\n(b) the address and telephone number of the person that towed the vehicle.\n(3) An owner that has a vehicle towed under Subsection (1) is not liable for any damage that occurs to the vehicle after the independent towing carrier takes possession of the vehicle.","path":["Title 38 Liens","Chapter 38-8 Self-Service Storage Facilities"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title38/Chapter8/38-8-S3.5.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"d4e018a57ce9cb951228407130450fc9c949ed8f48424bde2974adf6508d794a","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-38-8-3","next":"us-ut/utah-code-38-8-4"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
