{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-4-2-903","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 4-2-903","heading":"Animal care violations.","body":"(1) \"Animal care facility\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 76-13-215.\n(2) The department may, in accordance with this section and as resources allow, respond to a complaint that an animal care facility has violated Subsection 76-13-202(2)(a) or Section 76-13-215.\n(3) If the department determines that a person has violated Subsection 76-13-202(2)(a) or Section 76-13-215, the department may:\n(a) impose a civil fine of up to $500 per violation;\n(b) seek a temporary restraining order;\n(c) seek an injunction;\n(d) seek an order of seizure or condemnation for an animal that is the subject of the violation, if the department has identified a suitable animal care facility that accepts custody of the animal; or\n(e) report the circumstances to law enforcement or a prosecutor.\n(4) An action by the department under Subsection (3) may precede and does not preclude a criminal penalty or criminal prosecution under Section 76-13-202, 76-13-203, 76-13-204, or 76-13-215.\n(5) The department shall deposit a fine imposed under Subsection (3) into the General Fund as a dedicated credit to be used by the department for enforcement of this section.","path":["Title 4 Utah Agricultural Code","Chapter 4-2 Administration","Part 4-2-9 Veterinarian Education Loan Repayment Program"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title4/Chapter2/4-2-S903.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"6cffe8bbb12fd843dde2a83b9588f2184fb5059315b8e2c5dc815a15b06bab9d","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-4-2-902","next":"us-ut/utah-code-4-2-1001"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
